Report an error

Use the form on this page. Please include:

  • the address of the page,
  • the statement you believe is wrong, and
  • if you can, a source that shows the correct information.

We check the statement against the source listed for it on the page.

How corrections are noted

When we correct an error in a published article:

  • the article's "Updated" date changes to the date of the correction, and
  • a dated correction note appears under the byline, saying what the article got wrong and what it says now.

Routine updates that do not fix an error, such as a newer month of EIA price data, change the "Updated" date but do not carry a correction note.

The editorial standards and the editorial team page explain how articles are checked before they are published.
