This policy covers www.thehvacstandard.com. The site is published by Joel Keith (see Ownership). We collect very little, and we do not sell personal information.

What we collect

When you visit. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets cookies in your browser and records things like the pages you view, how you arrived, your general location (city level) and your device and browser type. We use these reports to decide what to cover. We do not use them to identify you, and we do not run advertising on the site.

When you use the contact form. The form sends us your name, email address, message, topic and, if you add it, the page you were reading. It arrives as an email in the editor's inbox. We use it to answer you, fix errors and improve the site. To block spam, the site briefly checks your IP address, and it may log the address if a message looks like spam.

When you choose a market. If you pick a market (for example, Phoenix) in the top bar, your browser remembers that choice on your own device so the site can show local pages. It is not sent to us.

Newsletter. The newsletter has not launched. The sign-up box does not send or store your email address yet. This policy will be updated before it does.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent personal information.
  • We do not share your contact-form messages outside the editorial team, unless the law requires it.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Services we rely on

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) for visit reports. Google explains how it uses this data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
  • Vercel hosts the site. Like most hosts, it keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security and operations.
  • Google Workspace (Gmail) delivers and stores contact-form emails.

Articles link to government agencies, utilities, companies and other sites. Some Owner's Desk articles carry affiliate links, and those articles say so at the top. Once you leave this site, the other site's privacy policy applies.

Your choices

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
  • You can stop Google Analytics from collecting your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • You can clear the saved market by clearing this site's data in your browser.
  • To ask what we hold about you, or to have a contact-form message deleted, use the contact form.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
