This section holds the degree-day page, which compares long-term heating and cooling degree days across the markets The HVAC Standard covers.
NOAA's 1991–2020 normals give Phoenix Sky Harbor 4,764.6 cooling degree days a year, the most of the stations in the degree-day guide. Of those stations, the Columbus, Ohio airport station has the most heating degree days, 5,233.4 a year in the same NOAA normals. The standard NCEI degree-day normals used on the degree-day page have a base of 65°F.
The methodology page lists the NOAA weather station used for each metro and notes that these are 30-year normals, not a single year's weather.
